WHMAT Shares its Story

Washwood Heath MAT was asked to share the story of the last 18 months at the 'MATPN' conference, held at Heathrow on 22nd and 23rd November. MATPN conferences are held throughout the year, have a series of high-profile speakers and are attended by Trust and other educational leaders from across the country.
Pete Weir (CEO) and Michelle Gabriel (Director of People) talked through how staff had engaged with the consultation process on the new strategy, how that led to the Trust's focus on oracy and developing young citizens through the Rights Respecting agenda, and how that had then been backed up by the work of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion working group and the subsequent strategy and training. It was made clear that we are at the start of a journey, one underpinned by the arrival of a new Board of Trustees and the excellence of leadership in all areas, but especially in Finance as we moved out of the Notice to Improve.
The session was very well received and a number of Trusts are now interested in collaborating with us on this and other development areas.
